I could write reams on this Artist, ever since her "Untiltled Film Stills" I've been in love with her work, most of you should already be familiar with her.
Sherman's endless stream of self portrait/self re-creations have been an inspiration to me ever since I first started shooting.
Now at 55 she's portrayed herself as a series of aging "trophy" women. These works examine the anxiety of aging, something we all do no matter what (but
ya are Blanche!)
The Deja-vu effect of this series of "Mrs. Robinson" types is intentional and meant to conjure up trigger responses, but also something much deeper. Like most of her work, it evokes a sense of the alter-ego, its often easy to identify parts of yourself in her works, even in the most grotesque images.
There are certain artists I get compared to over and over, but never Cindy, I wonder why? She's one of the few I feel a strong artistic kinship with.
I guess if you only know my work from this blog that may seem odd..I'll have to mix it up a bit from now on.
P.S. this is the real Cindy:
