Work out buds: Jon and Christian

This is Christian and his best buddy Jon, they work out together all the time so I decided to set up a "Gold Gym" Shoot, with my adorable new intern Robbie shooting video, not exactly a work out video per se, but something like that, fitness buff that I am. It was a bit of a ruckus, one of those shoots that sort of gets away from you a bit, not always a bad thing, but now I know why gyms have a 'no smoking' policy, interestingly, they never say anything about drinking.

Super Space Disco: GANYMED!

This Austrian disco outfit is one of the most awesome space-disco bands EVER, complete with silver space suits (because everyone knows, in the future we will all wear silver..) muppet-esque masks and a hot chick with moves, this horizon-expanding clip of 'Take Me Higher' is from 79, only one of their many great tracks..

Model: Boxer

Some years ago I got a letter in the mail saying something like, Im an Egyptian model, love your work and Id really like to work with you, well, who could resist.
That's how I met Boxer. He went on to become a go-go boy and now he has his own fitness show, I will probably be shooting him agian soon.
Enjoy this P&W classic.

Hey Dude, you may want to drop that before it goes off....

All the flag-waving on the 4th of July normally makes me want to hurl, I guess this year is a bit different since our country has regained at least a shred of credibility.
Obviously there's still a long way to go, but with Al Frankin in the Senate and the beginning of the end of the Iraq war, at least there's an whiff of sanity in the air, something that's been missing for a LONG time, though Im stopping short of optimism.
There are still plenty of right-wing corporate rats who would love to see this country, and the rest of the world go down the toilet as long as their the ones who end up with all the money and power, and herds of brainwashed christian buffoons who would blindly follow them to doomsday as long as their fed a steady diet of 'John and Kate plus 8" and antibiotics.
On that note, Im getting out of town. Be back Tuesday!

Love Hangover: Miss Ross and the MUPPETS..

As Bunny would say, if this doesn't kick your drugs in nothing will, happy 4th of July weekend people!

Genius of the Day: Cindy Sherman

I could write reams on this Artist, ever since her "Untiltled Film Stills" I've been in love with her work, most of you should already be familiar with her.
Sherman's endless stream of self portrait/self re-creations have been an inspiration to me ever since I first started shooting.
Now at 55 she's portrayed herself as a series of aging "trophy" women. These works examine the anxiety of aging, something we all do no matter what (but ya are Blanche!)
The Deja-vu effect of this series of "Mrs. Robinson" types is intentional and meant to conjure up trigger responses, but also something much deeper. Like most of her work, it evokes a sense of the alter-ego, its often easy to identify parts of yourself in her works, even in the most grotesque images.
There are certain artists I get compared to over and over, but never Cindy, I wonder why? She's one of the few I feel a strong artistic kinship with.
I guess if you only know my work from this blog that may seem odd..I'll have to mix it up a bit from now on.
P.S. this is the real Cindy:
